ABOUT OUR SUMMER CAMPS

We take ages 8-19 for the Three Position and Takedown Machine® Camps and ages 10-19 for the Dream Season Camp. YES, high school seniors can attend our camps. We do require that all campers have at least ONE SEASON of wrestling experience.

Register early to take advantage of our payment installment plan!  Details below.  Commuter option is available for all campers.  Reminder, commuters do not stay overnight with us.  They must be picked up and dropped off each day.  They are welcome to join us for lunch and dinner, but should grab breakfast on their own.

It is very common for our staff to step in and drill / spar / go live with the wrestlers. Obviously we are not there to win or go hard, but to help your wrestlers. If anyone would rather their wrestler (Purler Summer Camper) not train with our coaches, you are expected to OPT OUT by sending an email to us and giving us your wrestler’s name(s) as well as the camp(s) they are attending. [email protected]

Partnering up at Purler Wrestling Camps / Academy, etc: We always ask the wrestlers to partner up at all of our training events, so that  they can train with any and all amazing partners we have. It is your child’s responsibility to choose partners close to their age and wt class.

We are sorry to announce that we are no longer able to do pick up and drop offs for unaccompanied minors, they require too much from a staffing standpoint. Please keep in mind, the classification of someone being a UM has nothing to do with them being under 18. SWA says under 12 is a UM and all other airlines say 14 and under. This means if your child is 14 and under on Alaska, Frontier, United, Delta, or American Airlines they can not fly in alone. For SWA it is children under 12. So if your wrestler is between 12 and 14 they need to fly on SWA. Anyone over 14 can fly on whatever airline you like, under 12 they need to fly in with an adult and return with an adult. If you worry about your child flying alone I suggest booking them on a direct flight so that you don’t have to worry about them missing a connection. Be aware that if your child misses a connection or their connecting flight is canceled they will be required by the airlines to sleep in the airport unless they are 18. That makes for a miserable and stressful night so paying for a direct flight is well worth it.

How to book:
• All airport transportation must be booked on-line at https://www.purlerwrestling.com/airport-transportation-registration/airport-transportation-registration-form/ .
• You are booking flights to Lambert International Airport only, which is STL on the airport code.
• Flights are to be booked, if at all possible, for arrivals between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM the night before (campers stay out at our facility with the coaches) and departures for the last day of camp. Our last instructional session ends at noon. The afternoon review session is so parents can come watch their wrestlers. Those sessions run 1:00 – 2:15 and 2:15 – 3:30. Wrestlers who are flying out can miss those last sessions an not miss any instruction. It takes an hour to get to the airport, add in the required 2 hour window from the airlines and wrestlers need to plan to leave AFTER 3:00 if they don’t want to miss any instructional time. Please contact us if that becomes an issue.
• Please note if you book a late departure your child may be at the airport for a while. We typically do our last drop offs around 6:00 pm depending on how the schedule fits together. It’s no different than having a long layover, just be sure they are prepared to get their own dinner or snacks at the airport.

Price:
• $75 (total round trip) airport transportation fee per wrestler. One-way is $37.50 per wrestler.
• $25 late booking fee if you book after June 1st.
• $25 late fee if you book 1 week prior to the start of your camp.
• Please book early so that we can make proper arrangements for rental vans and drivers.
• The $75 fee covers transportation to and from, dinner the night they fly in and breakfast the next morning, as well as, the extra night’s stay.
• Also, make sure they have money for the bag fee on their way back if the airline charges for it. They do not take cash at the airport, so if your child does not have a debit card you need to pre-pay this fee when they depart by checking them in on-line.
• Your child is also free to choose Uber/Lyft or taxi service if you like. Just be sure they have the proper apps/phone number ready to go!

How pick up works

It is best if you send your wrestler in a wrestling T-shirt. We will be in our “Purler Wrestling” T-shirts so we will be easy to spot. We ask that anyone flying in on SWA into Terminal 2 wait at baggage claim 1, all other wrestlers fly into Terminal 1 and should wait together at baggage claim 4. There is seating available in both areas. We will create a group message with everyone in their pick up group to give them detailed directions once they have arrived and picked up their bags. They will be told which exits to use, their driver’s name, and what vehicle they are in so there is no confusion

A schedule of groups and pick up times will be emailed out prior to camp. Typically, about 4 to 5 days ahead of time. We include everyone’s phone numbers, driver’s names and numbers so everyone is easily able to communicate delays or changes to the schedule.

There will be a registration table set up in the parking lot.   After checking in please help your wrestler get settled in his bunk and then say your goodbyes.  The parking lot has limited space and we need to let others in to drop off their sons.  All parents need to leave the campground by 10:00 a.m. so we can get started with camp.

On the final day of camp, we will re-hit and re-teach key areas that the campers had difficulty with and brush up on some final areas.  Session II of the last day will be a very physical review/hard drill session.  EVERYTHING covered will be hit many, many times in order to fully reinforce the week’s worth of training.  Parents are encouraged to come early and watch what their wrestler has learned over the past four days.  Shower, room-check, and head home.

*Menu substitutions may be made if supply issues arise.  Typically Velveeta Chicken Pasta Bake or Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowls are our substitutions.

*If your camper has special dietary needs other than gluten, please contact us at [email protected]ing.com to make arrangements.  No peanut products are used in our meal menus or available in our concession stand. We do keep plenty of GF substitutes on hand for all meals so no need to contact us about a gluten allergy.  Just have your child let our kitchen staff know and they will be shown where the GF items are located and they will have access to them at any time.  We also keep almond milk on hand for anyone who is lactose intolerant.  You are welcome to send foods for your child to eat to supplement our menu if they have a food allergy/intolerance.  They will need to label their food and a coach will show them where to store it at check in.  No foods are allowed in the bunks.

As you can see from the schedule, we will have plenty of time for fun and hanging out. We have a game room area for wrestlers to hang out and watch movies or play games in.   We have plenty of room on our 9 acres for outdoor activities as well.  There is a volleyball court and large field for outdoor games.

PACKING LIST (We have A/C and fans in the bunks)

All wrestlers are allowed ONE suitcase along with a back pack/wrestling bag and a mesh laundry bag.  Each wrestler will have a 40x 30 x 24 inch shelf and ALL of their gear should be kept on that shelf in order to keep the floor clear for the safety of the kids.  Please no trunks/construction style tool boxes.  We do not want our floors scratched by dragging them across the bunkhouse.

Here is a list of some things you should pack:

  1. MANDATORY – all wrestlers must bring a combination lock box to our camp so they can store their money, and valuables. This is  the one that we recommend as it will strap to their bed, offers great strength, and at a nice price ($20 – $30 depending on the size you order). Order here.
    • Every wrestler is responsible for securing their valuables
    • Every wrestler must bring a lock box to our summer camp, no exceptions
      • Remember, this durable lock box can be used for many years to come, so will be nice to have!
    • Please do not bring expensive head phones or items such as  this to camp
    • Write your kids’ name in permanent black marker on the bottom of the lock box
    • Parents, please save your child’s 3-digit safe code in case they forget it.   We will not be cutting open lock boxes at camp, but instead will cut the cable and send the lock box home with your camper @ the end of camp, if they lose their code and you do not have it.
  2. The number of workout clothes to pack varies on the wrestler.  Some of our little guys don’t sweat as much and won’t need a fresh set of clothes after each session.  Our bigger guys may need to change after each session.  Some may just need to change tops, so please plan accordingly.  Maintaining a clean environment is of our upmost importance so it is to your son’s advantage to have too many clothes and not need them.  Sorry, no laundry services available for the five day camps.  Five day camps have 14 sessions, seven day camps have 20, and the fourteen day camp has 21 sessions before the laundry service is available.
  3. Mesh laundry bag to store dirty clothes away from clean clothes and allow them to dry.
  4. Every camper needs a roll of athletic tape.
  5. Two towels (need two so they can dry out between showers.)
  6. Toiletries, MUST include a good antibacterial soap.  We suggest Dial soap.  Please pack a few bars as these get left behind in the showers all the time!  (NO SPRAY ON DEODORANT PLEASE)
  7. Combo lock to use on one of our lockers (no keyed locks!).
  8. Sun block is suggested for outdoor rec time, bug repellant lotion or oil, no spray please.
  9. Wrestling gear (headgear is not required), Neoprene knee pads are highly recommended.  Pack two pairs so the spare can dry out between practices.
  10. TWIN sized sheet set, a light blanket, and pillow (You have a mattress provided on your bunk.)
  11. Electronic games and cell phones are “bring at your own risk!!” .  All wrestlers may use one of our lockers, please bring your own lock.  Combo locks only, no keyed locks please.
  12. ALL WRESTLERS MUST BRING A SPORT WATER BOTTLE WITH THEIR NAME ON IT TO THEIR TRAINING SESSION.  WATER FOUNTAINS ARE AVAILABLE TO REFILL THEIR BOTTLES.  Small water bottles are for sale for $5 if your wrestler forgets one.

LAUNDRY SERVICE FOR WRESTLERS DOING MULTIPLE CAMPS BACK TO BACK, DREAM SEASON CAMP, AND 28-DAY CHALLENGE

We offer a bulk laundry service for campers staying in between camps, 28-Day Challenge campers, and on day 7 of the Dream Season Camp.  If you want your wrestler to use this service please send $15 cash for each laundry day they may need (sorry, we do not have change) in an envelope marked with HIS NAME and “laundry”.  We will cover the laundry soap and fabric softener.  A mesh laundry bag is also necessary, please make sure it is free of holes!  We are not responsible for items that fall out of the laundry bag. Please make sure your son’s name is clearly labeled on the bag with permanent marker!!  Sorry, no laundry service for 5-day camps.

In order to maintain a clean and sanitary bunkhouse, we DO NOT allow snacks in the bunkhouses.  There is no area to store food so wrestlers are NOT allowed to bring in their own snacks.  We have concession items to purchase for $1 to $2 that they can consume in the rec. room/dining hall areas.  They range from protein bars to candy bars, burritos, pizza pockets, and gatorades to sodas.  In order to maintain a sanitary environment snacks are NOT allowed in the bunkhouse.  We need to make sure the bunks stay clear of mice, insects, ants, etc.

Athletes are to stay within the boundaries of our campground at all times.  Anyone caught off the premises will be sent home with no refund.  Please make sure your child is aware he/she is here to learn and to train.  Everyone paid good money to come and have a positive camp experience and that’s what we intend to provide.  Any property damage will result in a fine!!

No bare feet on the wrestling mats.  All wrestlers are to change shoes prior to getting on the mats.

Parents are allowed to watch the last session on the final day of camp ONLY.  We are maintaining a distraction-free zone.  Parents are allowed to come visit your wrestler, but must meet in the designated parking lot with the picnic tables to do so.  For the safety of the campers, we do not allow parents, friends, or family members around the kids at camp and will not allow any parents to roam about the camp grounds, dining pavilion, bunk houses, etc.  If you decide to take them off-campus please have them check out with a coach before you leave.
